Daylight Savings

It doesn’t seem to matter whether it’s early or late: daylight savings hits me hard.
In this case, it’s been a positive hit: I was up at the crack of dawn (thanks in part to the dog, who knows when he’s hungry, but doesn’t know how to correlate that with which numbers on the clock are “acceptable”).

It’s now a robust 1pm, and I feel like going back to bed.

Still, there’s no rest for the wicked, so I worked on some (largely) dialogue pieces today.  I’m experimenting with how I can show action simply by people talking.

Today’s hard challenge was speakerphone.  When you’ve got one person (the perspective) at one end, and x(y)+2^z at the other end, dialogue is difficult to describe.  You can’t have dudes doing stuff as they’re talking, because they’re just a disembodied voice – so who says what is always tricky.

I think I’ve caught the gist of it, and rubbed in a robust word count to boot.

Word goal: 2,500.  Word achievement: 3,400.  Tomorrow, there will be an interrogation of sorts.  What fun!
